Sustainability Commitment

Colección Tansu is crafted exclusively using leather that meets the rigorous standards set by the Leather Working Group (LWG). Every leather used is Gold Rated Certified, the highest distinction granted by LWG, reflecting excellence in environmental stewardship throughout the production process.

This certification guarantees that the tanning and manufacturing practices follow global best practices — including responsible water and energy use, minimized waste, and strict chemical controls.

By committing to these certified production standards, Colección Tansu embodies a philosophy of refined craftsmanship and sustainability, ensuring that each piece is both luxurious and ethically made.

what is gold rated certification?

Gold-rated certification by the Leather Working Group (LWG) is the highest environmental standard awarded to leather manufacturers. It is given to facilities that score 85% or more in their audit, covering areas like chemical management, water and energy use, waste treatment, worker safety, and traceability. Gold-rated leather is considered eco-friendly and may be exempt from certain regulations like California’s Prop 65. The certification is valid for 2 years and ensures top-level sustainability practices in leather production.

Who is responsible

  • Leather Working Group (LWG) – A global multi-stakeholder group made up of brands, leather manufacturers, suppliers, retailers, and NGOs.
  • LWG Approved Auditors – Independent, third-party auditors trained and authorized by LWG to conduct on-site assessments.
  • Tanneries and leather manufacturers – They are responsible for meeting the LWG standards and applying for the audit.

In short, LWG develops the standards, auditors assess compliance, and leather producers implement sustainable practices to earn the certification.
