Who is responsible
- Leather Working Group (LWG) – A global multi-stakeholder group made up of brands, leather manufacturers, suppliers, retailers, and NGOs.
- LWG Approved Auditors – Independent, third-party auditors trained and authorized by LWG to conduct on-site assessments.
- Tanneries and leather manufacturers – They are responsible for meeting the LWG standards and applying for the audit.
In short, LWG develops the standards, auditors assess compliance, and leather producers implement sustainable practices to earn the certification.
